JF was founded by Moussa and Mohammed Mohaidly in 1994, beginning as a small retailer in a 1,500 square foot store in Vancouver, selling Middle Eastern products to the Arab and local communities.
Driven by a vision to popularize Middle Eastern cuisine in Vancouver, the brothers sought to expand their footprint. In 2000, they rented a 1,000 square foot storage unit and began sourcing a curated selection of Middle Eastern products to distribute to other Arab supermarkets across British Columbia.
As their business grew, they expanded their product range and began importing container loads from Lebanon, which necessitated a move to a larger 2,000 square foot warehouse on Main Street. Recognizing the opportunity presented by the increasing number of small retailers opening in Vancouver, Jasmine Foods capitalized on this growth by further diversifying their product offerings and importing from additional Middle Eastern countries.
This expansion led to the establishment of a 7,000 square foot warehouse on Georgia Street, equipped with cooling and freezing units, which significantly enhanced their capacity to broaden their product range.
Over the following years, the growing ethnic community in British Columbia fueled a gradual increase in demand for Middle Eastern products. Jasmine Foods responded by continually expanding its product line and strengthening relationships with suppliers both in Canada and the Middle East.
To accommodate the rising demand, the company moved to a 12,000 square foot warehouse in 2012, where they continue to operate today, positioning themselves as a leading supplier of Middle Eastern foods in the region.
